So I always thought I loved pizza. I have been born and raised in Arizona so I guess I really don't know what good pizza tastes like. That was until I went to Rocco's on Tuesday! On Broadway just west of Country Club is a small family-owned restaurant that has been a Tucson treasure for over 10 years. I can't believe I have never been there before. I was able to taste real Chicago style pizza for the very first time. It was so much better than any other pizza I've had before. My favorite pizza was "The Kitchen Sink". It pretty much has everything but the kitchen sink in it! It's a deep dish pizza packed full of flavor. The pizza sauce is homemade on site as is almost everything else!
On top of the great pizza, Rocco's also has great salads like the caprese salad with the most amazing balsalmic vingarette. I also loved the breadsticks dipped in the homemade marinara sauce. There were also spicy breadsticks that sure needed to washed down with a good ol' fashioned "Old Style" beer. I went to Rocco's with some great friends and before leaving I knew I just HAD to get a pizza to go for my husband because he would love it, which he did! :) Before leaving I had some real Chicago style cheesecake from Chicago! It's flown in fresh and it's amazing! It literally melts in your mouth. Some cheesecakes are to think and rich, but this one was just perfect. I didn't want to share!
Rocco's will definitely be one of our main eating out places!
You have to try it! If you do go, mention that Taste Casting of Tucson sent you and you'll get free drinks! Check out the website: www.roccoslittlechicago.com

Acacia at St. Philip's
I am in no way an expert on food. I'm a very simplistic person, especially when it comes to food. I vary rarely try fancy restaurants, but am sure glad I tried Acacia Restaurant!! This was a beautiful establishment that has been kept very clean for 5 years!
We ate outside on the fantastic patio and listened to wonderful music as we ate in a relaxing and comfortable atmosphere. The owners of Acacia, Lila and Albert are very friendly and are very much a part of the daily happenings at the restaurant. They whole-heartedly believe in family and relationships and work hard to make that evident in their restaurant. You can even bring your pets with you to dinner!
We were able to sample their brand new summer menu and it was AMAZING! I'm not into seafood at all but the Halibut was the best I had ever tasted! I will definitely have that again. I usually don't like to try new things but this atmosphere made we want to try everything! I actually had lamb and duck for the first time here and fell in love with them both! We had lamb T-bone steaks that were grilled perfectly and had just the right amount seasoning. After I finished my portion I was left wanting more. My wedding anniversary is this month and Acacia is definitely where we are going to celebrate it!
My husband had never had hummus before and the hummus with pita chips made him fall in love! He asked me to make it at home, but why would I when we can just go to Acacia!? :)
So needless to say I was very impressed with Acacia at St. Philip's. Go ahead and check out their website www.acaciatucson.com you can see all of the entrees on their new summer menu, and you can try it out for yourself for a discounted rate from now until June 14th!! Make sure if you go you call me!
